With under 100 productions under her belt, veteran director, actor, vocalist and theatre arts educator, Melanie David loves the world of theatre and is passionate about sharing that joy with children—particularly teens. Years ago, Ms. David wisely majored in advertising/marketing at NAU while spending all of her time on stage or singing with Shrine of Ages Choir and Ensemble. She has served on the national board of Christians In Theatre Arts, and was privileged to lead acting and directing workshops in Los Angeles, Chicago and Phoenix. She is the recipient of the Iren Ryan Acting Award through the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Pursuing her life-long dream of marrying her passion of theatre with her faith in Christ Jesus, Ms. David founded faith-based Waypoint Theatre Company in Tucson, and served as Executive Artistic Director through its 12 year tenure, where she became known for her signature bag lady character. In addition to acting, directing, singing and teaching, Ms. David believes in partnering with the Tucson community including Tucson Festival of Books, U of A’s Shakespeare Festival, Arts Express’ summer education arts integration program and other non-profit organizations serving the Tucson community. Melanie currently teaches theatre arts at Casas Christian School and serves her church as a lead praise team vocalist and Lighting Director. She has been happily married to her husband for 40 years and has one son, two daughters and one very talented, budding actor/vocalist granddaughter (yes, she is biased). She is truly thrilled to direct this summer's teen intensive comedy, Game of Tiaras for CYT!
