Description

Take a journey into the art of acting. Together, we'll break down the "Why" of acting, and work through a variety of techniques to explore how to step into a character's life and embody the person to most effectively tell a story. Week to week, we will explore how to bring energy into your performance through physicality and breath, and how to use that energy to communicate to other actors in the scene. We will work on the physicality of characters and explores the depths of storytelling in our scenes. As we work throughout the session, we will develop our own characters and perform polished scenes at the showcase!

Erin Sommers

Erin Is a 21 year old artist and actress. Her CYT shows include “Shrek” (Gingy), "Freaky Friday” (Katherine), “Seussical" (the Sour Kangaroo), and "Cinderella" (Fairy Godmother/Marie). She is extremely honored to play Ms. Honey in her last CYT show, with her younger sister Clara in her cast as Trunchbull!

ShoShannah Waters

My name is ShoShannah Waters and I am proud to be co-teaching an acting class with CYT! My goal has always been to build confidence in myself and in others, leading through example and guiding my students to be proud of their talent. Teaching them to build up a great performance with only the bare minimum. I work full time as a data processor for The Mahoney Group and have worked my way up to being our department lead. I have taught a previous class all about introduction to art as well as playing in 5 CYT shows before aging out. I have worked as a stage manager for SAPAC and value the experience of learning every role that goes into putting on a complete show.

Location Notes:

There are entrances to the church on Woodland Ave/4th St./Craycroft Rd.. Please park in rear parking lot and walk your student onto church grounds. The site coordinator will be located at the ramada for you to sign in/out.
