Class Description

Be part of a production team as you Bring a Show to Life!
Students will...

Design the plot: instructor may present plot ideas for students to choose from, students may present original ideas if applicable, students may also create a plot based on a fairy tale or something similar

Students may collaborate as a class OR break into groups to complete the following:

Script Writing - with guidance from the  instructor, students may collaborate on the script as a whole OR split up to write individual scenes or a combination of these approaches

Songwriting - with guidance from the instructor, students will write songs, either composing new music from scratch OR writing parody song lyrics to melodies of songs they already know, or a combination of these approaches. The instructor will provide accompaniment/create instrumental tracks to accompany all songs

Blocking/Choreography - with guidance from the instructor, students will get to make creative decisions related to staging, choreography, etc.

Costumes/Props - we will plan to use costume and prop items that students and/or instructor already own or can borrow for free, so as to keep things relatively simple and inexpensive for families.

Supplies: if possible, I would like to ask some of our older students to bring laptops to class if they have them so that we can create typewritten scripts, song lyrics, etc, to be saved to the instructor’s flash drive and eventually printed out for students by the instructor.
