Class Description

Character Portrait - Eight Characters of Comedy - Comedy is About Family
In this Master Class students will develop or improve beyond fundamental acting skills, such as how to play strong and dynamic action, how to live truthfully in imaginary circumstances, and how to incorporate essential vocabulary into every aspect of their work.  Students will study text analysis, character arch types and comedic rhythm and punctuation.


Todd Poelstra

Todd is the Advanced Program Coordinator for Theatre Arts Program at Pima Community College since 2001. He manages the four show production season and outreach projects. Todd has served in various roles over last 40 years in over 170 productions as designer, director, and producer. He has worked with a diverse group of local dance and theater companies including: Dancing in the Streets, Invisible Theatre, Borderlands Theatre, Dance Visions. In 2001 he served as Festival Technical Director for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. Todd has taught numerous subjects at Pima CC ranging from scene design, lighting design, and theater graphics. As well, he taught stagecraft at University of AZ.

Location Notes:

There are entrances to the church on Woodland Ave/4th St./Craycroft Rd.. Please park in rear parking lot and walk your student onto church grounds. The site coordinator will be located at the ramada for you to sign in/out.
