This hands-on costume design class for teens explores the art of bringing characters to life for theater and film through clothing. Students will learn to analyze scripts, develop character concepts, create sketches or mood boards, and explore fabric selection, costume history, and construction techniques. The course covers both the artistic and practical aspects, such as fittings and wardrobe management.

Nina Christenson has been has been sewing, tucking, cutting, altering, designing, hacking, attaching, hemming, adding, and repurposing fabrics and costumes for 11 years at CYT Tucson. She enjoys seeing the children on the stage wearing fun costumes. She is also the elementary Spanish teacher at Casas Christian School. Come join the class and learn new skills or improve your current sewing skills.
