Intro to Jazz (Ages 8-12)

In this upbeat and engaging introduction to jazz and musical theatre dance, students will explore the energetic world of jazz through foundational technique, dynamic movement, and expressive performance. Dancers will learn key jazz vocabulary such as jazz squares, chassés, pivot turns, isolations, and kicks, all while building strength, flexibility, and stage presence.

Class objectives include mastering basic jazz steps and combinations, developing rhythm and musicality, and gaining confidence in performance skills. Dancers will also be introduced to the theatrical side of jazz, using facial expressions and storytelling through movement to bring choreography to life.

Through fun warm-ups, across-the-floor progressions, and short routines inspired by Broadway and pop styles, students will build coordination, body awareness, and a love for expressive dance. The class environment is supportive and inspiring, encouraging each child to grow at their own pace while having a blast and discovering the joy of jazz!
