Class Description

This class has been rescheduled due to low enrollment. Stay tune for a Sunday in July.

This 90 minute master class on May 16th is  for 14year olds and up. It will focus on the importance of dance within musical theatre.

Kelli Workman will present foundational ideas and techniques to help each student identify strengths in style and presentation as well as areas to grow.
A Pilates-based warmup will help bring awareness to the body, alignment, strength, and balance. Through Jazz-technique we will apply that awareness and gain deeper understanding of each individual body in movement. Finally, we will talk about ways to work at home (or anywhere!) that can truly create gains in dance technique.

Kelli is looking forward to bringing her wide-range of skills to the CYT community to help each student gain confidence in your body and what you are capable of!

Kelli Workman

At nine years of age, Kelli Workman began performing professionally in Musical Theater at the TCC Music Hall working for the prestigious Southern Arizona Light Opera Company. At just 11, she was cast as Baby Louise in Gypsy, with Tony award winner Betty Buckley playing Mama Rose. Kelli continued working solidly in professional stage productions, film, TV, and with Kids Unlimited where she has been a co-director/resident choreographer for the last 17 years. She has sailed over 30 countries as a lead singer, dancer, and cabaret artist for Crown and Royal Caribbean Cruises, worked as a singer/dancer for American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA, as well as choreographing/dancing for The Legendary Superstars at the Santa Ana Star Casino. She toured 15 cities in China as a featured singer with Artifact Dance Project. Some of her most impactful musical theatre credits along the way include I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change, West Side Story, 42nd St, Les Miserables, Evita, Godspell, Crazy for You, and Triumph of Love which she received a Mac nomination under direction of Chach Snook. Kelli is a certified Pilates Instructor for the Fletcher Pilates Company since 2005. She has helped create a Pilates for Youth Program as well as develop a mentoring program for Fletcher teachers. In addition, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix with a concentration in Human Services Management. Kelli learned at a very young age a professional skill set for theater and the importance of training in all three elements. Pilates has proven to be a great component and support to dance technique and body awareness. Kelli is looking forward to bringing her varied expertise to the CYT community!
