Description

Discover what happens behind the scenes to bring a production to life. This hands-on class will introduce students to lighting, sound, stage management, scenic construction, props, backstage organization, and other areas of technical theatre. Throughout the semester, students will learn from experienced guest instructors while exploring the many opportunities available both onstage and behind the curtain.

I have been involved with CYT Tucson since 2011 in a variety of volunteer roles. For the last 12 years, I have been involved primarily with stage lighting, and I currently assist a variety of community theater and TUSD productions with lighting design and other stage tech. I get tremendous joy helping productions come to life on stage in the most interesting ways possible, and during the Technical Theater class, I plan to share that joy with the students, opening up new pathways they can follow in theater.
