Class Description

Have you ever wished to be more independent in a music rehearsal, wanted to be able to learn music faster, or wished that someone would have taught you HOW to do those things?
In Voice & Musicianship class, students will not only choose songs to learn and prepare for the showcase but will use these songs as a context in which to learn and practice reading music. We will cover such crucial life-long musical skills as solfege, interval recognition, harmonic & polyphonic singing, and rhythmic sight-reading.

Sam Sierra-Feldman

Sam is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in vocal studies and a minor in creative writing, and recently made her CYT directorial debut as the music director for “Freaky Friday,” as well as teaching Voice & Musicianship class for 8-12 year olds. Sam currently serves as a church music director on the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, as a staff singer for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus, as assistant director and composer in residence for the Helios Ensemble, and as the music teacher for the Tucson Hebrew Academy. She also enjoys co-authoring the “Sam the Ant” children’s book series with her father, Enrique “Hank” Feldman and is passionately devoted to her three cats and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
